About Havasu Rocks

Havasu Rocks is the retail store of the Lake Havasu Gem and Mineral Society, set in the lobby of the club's lapidary shop. Volunteers staff it, and every sale goes toward maintaining the cutting and polishing equipment and keeping the workshop open to the community.

The shelves carry rough rock and slabs, geodes, amethyst and selenite, polished eggs and spheres, desert rose, fluorescent rocks shown under UV light, and handcrafted jewelry and polished stones made by club members.

One item is unique to the town: pieces of London Bridge granite. The stone was quarried at Haytor on Dartmoor in England for the bridge built in London in the 1830s; in 1968 Robert McCulloch bought the bridge and shipped the exterior blocks to Arizona to rebuild it at Lake Havasu City, and offcuts of that granite are sold here in various forms.

Behind the counter is the club's own lapidary workshop. The club also runs classes, field trips and a yearly gem and mineral show; the 2026 edition is on 14 and 15 November at Windsor Beach State Park.
