About GPAA Phoenix Chapter

Active since 1997, the Phoenix chapter of the GPAA, known as GPAP, is one of the largest in the country, with about 230 members.

It meets on the first Thursday of the month at 7 pm at VFW Post 9400, 804 E Purdue Ave in north Phoenix. Meetings have guest speakers on prospecting topics and drawings for gold nuggets and door prizes. The chapter has mentors who are happy to take new members out and help them find their first color, and an active Facebook group where outings are organized.

In June 2019 the chapter sent out a call for help: two GPAA claims, Soldier Boy and Double J, needed an urgent clean-up, and members from Apache Junction came to work alongside them.

Joining the chapter goes hand in hand with joining the national association, which opens its claim guide, with ground for members across the country, Arizona included. For a beginner in Phoenix, mentors who already know those claims are the shortest way to a first flake of gold.
