About Copper Canyon Lapidary & Jewelry
Copper Canyon Lapidary carries on one of the older names in online rough for cutters. ColorWright.com had supplied rock cutters and gem enthusiasts since 1996; when its founder, Rob Kulakofsky, retired in 2018, he handed the business to Mike and Courtenay Beck, who moved it to Sedona and folded it into Copper Canyon.
Mike Beck runs the cutting shop, where he and Kyle Smith cut and polish stone and specialize in custom sculptures and cabochons; Courtenay looks after the booth at shows and the daily running of the business. The shop also takes outside work: slabbing, cabbing, sculpting and polishing customers' own rough.
The stock is aimed at people who cut: faceting rough, cabbing and carving rough, slabs, turquoise rough, finished cabochons and beads, plus fossils, meteorites, lapidary supplies and cutting equipment, and the faceting design books of Hans Gamma. Most of it sells online, through the company's site and an Etsy shop, and in spring and fall the Becks set up a booth at the Oak Creek Arts and Crafts Shows in Sedona.
