About White Mountain Gem and Mineral Club
The White Mountain Gem & Mineral Club was first founded in 1973 and chartered with the Rocky Mountain Federation of Mineralogical Societies. For many years it was very active; in the early 1990s it went dormant and gave up its charter.
In 1994 a new group brought it back to life. The club started its gem and mineral show in 1995, was chartered again with the Rocky Mountain Federation in 1996 and became an incorporated nonprofit educational organization. Since then it has added activities every year.
Members meet on the first Sunday of the month at the VFW Hall, 381 N Central Ave in Show Low, and visitors are invited to come along.
The highlight of the year is the White Mountain Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show, held every July at the Show Low Elks Lodge on E Whipple St, when the cool air of the high country brings visitors up from the desert. The 2026 show, from July 10 to 12, was the 27th: jewelry, fluorescent minerals, gold, displays and demonstrations, a kids' corner, door prizes, raffles, a silent auction and food trucks all three days. The club called it a great success.
