About Weaver Mining District

The Weaver Mining District is a non-profit prospecting club formed in 1993 in Congress, north of Wickenburg. It takes its name from the original mining district of territorial days, the Weaver district, which takes in Rich Hill, the hill where gold was famously picked up from the surface in the 1860s.

The club holds placer claims in that district, near the ghost town of Stanton, for its members. They are filed with the Bureau of Land Management under the name of the Arizona Association of Mining Districts, and in 2026 the association had 16 active claims covering about 320 acres. Members pay yearly family dues, and short-term passes let visitors try the claims for a few days.

The club office is on Highway 71 at Congress Junction, and it is the place to sign up and to ask about the claims, the rules of the area and what is turning up.
