South Bay Lapidary & Mineral Society
Club with field trips for members
Based in Torrance, California.
Lapidary and mineral society inspiring the South Bay through geology since 1948. Meets on the first Tuesday of each month in the library meeting room at 3301 Torrance Blvd., Torrance. Talks on gems and minerals from around the world, and the free annual Nature's Treasures show at the Ken Miller Recreation Center every March (the 73rd in 2026), with a fluorescent mineral exhibit.
Around here, the land is mostly private
Within 50 miles of Torrance our maps show no open public land to prospect. That is exactly why a club matters here: clubs have the landowner permissions, the leases and the know-how.
Nearest open public land on our gem and mineral map: about 52 miles away.
