About Huachuca Mineral and Gem Club

The Huachuca Mineral and Gem Club is a nonprofit rock club in Sierra Vista, in south-eastern Arizona below the Huachuca Mountains. Its interests are broad: geology, mineralogy and gemology, but also paleontology, archaeology and astronomy, along with the design and making of lapidary pieces and jewelry.

Members meet in person on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm at the Sierra Vista police station, except in July and December, and a business meeting is held on the first Monday. The rhythm is simple and practical: there is a field trip on the Saturday after each meeting, announced at the meeting itself, so going to the meeting is how you get on the trip.

The club also runs a yearly gem show, a scholarship program that reflects its interests and a junior rockhounds section. Guests, kids included, are always welcome, and the club says the best way to see if it suits you is simply to come to a meeting. Members also share questions and finds in a Facebook group.
