About Joe's Rock Shop
Joe's Rock Shop stands at the north end of Orderville, where US-89 runs between Zion and Bryce Canyon. The shop's own site presents it as a family business run by Ken and La Teresa, and says the septarian nodules it sells come from a claim a few miles down the highway and are cut and polished in the shop.
Besides nodules, the site lists fossils, petrified wood, obsidian, sulfur crystals, local sandstone and landscaping rock, and says you can bring your own finds to be cut and polished. It also notes that the owners will share directions to local rockhounding spots, so ask, and check the land status of anything they suggest before you dig.
The site gives hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, but also says the shop is closed during the winter months. Call (435) 648-2737 before a special trip, especially from late autumn to spring.
