Mojave Desert Gem & Mineral Society
Gem and mineral society of Barstow for people who collect and learn about gems, minerals, rocks, fossils and the lapidary arts. Business meetings on the first Saturday of the month at 11 AM, a kids group on the second Saturday morning, lapidary workshops on the third Friday and on the fourth and fifth Saturdays, and a field trip on the third Saturday; the pin marks Barstow, as the club does not publish a public meeting hall. The club holds its annual Gem and Mineral Show on the first weekend of December (the 2025 show was at the Harvey House in Barstow) and uses the proceeds for scholarships for local students of the earth sciences and lapidary arts. In 2026 one of its junior members won the CFMS Junior Achievement Award in the 12-18 age group.
