Paydirt: where to buy

Paydirt is gold-bearing gravel or concentrate sold in bags for panning at home. Most of it comes from small mining operations, often as sluice or dredge concentrates, and many sellers add extra gold so that every buyer finds some; the label usually says how much gold is guaranteed and how hard the bag is to pan.

It is a good way to learn. You can practice panning over a tub, test a new sluice or cleanup setup, or give someone their first gold before a real trip. It is not prospecting, though: the Eureka map lists only places where you dig native ground, never buckets of bought dirt, and how much gold a bag holds depends on the seller.

Before you buy, read what the seller says about where the material comes from, whether gold was added, the guaranteed minimum and the difficulty. Pan over a tub so you can run the tailings again, and keep your concentrates.
