San Francisco Gem & Mineral Society
Gem and mineral society founded in 1935, with its own clubhouse at 4134 Judah Street in San Francisco's Outer Sunset since 1957, where the pin is. The clubhouse has a library, a museum of mineral specimens, fossils and gems open to the public, and a workshop where member-instructors teach lapidary, silversmithing, faceting and gem carving through the week; open houses are listed in the monthly newsletter, the Mineralog, and on the club's Facebook page. General meetings are on the first Friday of the month at 7 PM, currently on Zoom. Field trips include a yearly trip to the club's Spider Mine for rhodonite, and the 90th anniversary weekends of August 2025 included a gold panning talk and demo.
