Peninsula Gem & Geology Society
Gem and geology society founded in 1950. Meets usually on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 PM (doors at 6:30) in the Manzanita Room of the Los Altos Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos, with a Zoom link for members. Lapidary workshops, field trips, talks on mines and minerals, and a joint show with the Sequoia Gem & Mineral Society in Redwood City every October.
Around here, the land is mostly private
Within 50 miles of Los Altos our maps show no open public land to prospect. That is exactly why a club matters here: clubs have the landowner permissions, the leases and the know-how.
Nearest open public land on our gem and mineral map: about 99 miles away.
