Gem and mineral society incorporated in 1954. Meets on the second Friday of each month at 7 PM (not in June and December) at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, 165 Forest Ave., Pacific Grove; open to the public. Field excursions to mineral locations, lapidary, interests that include fossils, a Junior Rockhounds program and an annual gem show at the Monterey County Fairgrounds in September.

Around here, the land is mostly private

Within 50 miles of Pacific Grove our maps show no open public land to prospect. That is exactly why a club matters here: clubs have the landowner permissions, the leases and the know-how.

Nearest open public land on our gem and mineral map: about 55 miles away.

No open public land on our fossil and meteorite map within 250 miles.
