Gem and mineral society formed in 1948, which in 1949 built its own clubhouse on donated land: the fireplace is made of petrified wood, mariposite and quartz crystals. Meets on the third Sunday of each month, 11 AM to 2 PM with potluck and program (no meetings in July and August), at the clubhouse, 2500 Meacham Ranch Road, about two miles north of Angels Camp off Highway 49. Lapidary shop on Saturdays, members-only and cooperative field trips, tailgate swaps twice a year and the Gem & Jewelry Show at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds in March.
