About Moab Rock Shop

The Moab Rock Shop was founded in 1960 by Lin Ottinger, known as Moab's Dinosaur Man, as a mix of store and museum. Ottinger discovered four dinosaur species, one of them named Iguanodon ottingeri after him, ran Volkswagen bus tours that took visitors into Canyonlands, and kept hunting rocks into his nineties; he died in February 2025 at 97.

The shop on North Main Street holds minerals, fossils, gemstones and meteorites from around the world. Its Yellow Pages listing describes it as specializing in dinosaur bone, petrified wood, crystals, mineral specimens, fossils and meteorites.

Its own website, moabrockshop.com, gives the shop at 600 North Main and the phone, (435) 259-7312.
